A flower bud-shaped flexible UWB antenna for healthcare applications

Abstract Remote surveillance of the elderly and others with health difficulties is becoming increasingly important in these epidemic days. To address issues, low-cost, lightweight, portable wearable devices are huge demand. This paper realizes design analysis a flexible ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna for healthcare applications. The proposed hexagonal microstrip encompasses two cuts on top left right side hexagon which looks like flower bud. fabricated using foam substrate dielectric constant 1.07 has dimension $$38 \times 30 1.7\,{\text{mm}}^{3}$$ 38 × 30 1.7 mm 3 . With unique patch shape corner cut partial ground, present strives to optimize structure accommodate UWB (3.1 10.6 GHz) operating spectrum from 2.6 11.3 GHz. achieved an FBW 125.17% total gain 5.24 dB. also evaluated line bending SAR over tissue 1 g 10 g. operated admirably, average value below safety limits 1.6 W/kg 2 tissues, respectively.
